Founded in the aftermath of the First Crusade, the Knights Templar vowed poverty, chastity, and obedience — monastic warriors sworn to protect pilgrims and defend the Holy Land. Their crimson cross pattée, sewn onto white mantles and painted on shields, became one of the most enduring symbols of Christian knighthood. Subtle burn effects and distressing give the Standard an authentic relic-like appearance — as if recovered from the walls of a forgotten commandery.
